Honeybee macro close up, feeding on a large yellow flower.
Please give nature a home, just give them a small pace in your garden, sow a few wildlife flower seeds and watch all types of insects come to feed.
The face is yellow, with reddish brown antennae. The eyes are covered with hair. Scutellum is brown yellow. The legs are red with a black base of the femur. The male's eyes do touch in the centre of the front, while in the females they are separated.
The larvae are light green or sometimes pink, with a white dorsal longitudinal stripe
A large and spectacular which has some stunning colours and zigzags characteristic.
Native to the USA but been Europe in 1999, it has since spread rapidly and influxes of immigrants.
The bug feeds on pines and is probably well-established, It is attracted to light and may enter buildings looking hibernation sites in the autumn.
Size 20 mm.
Taken in the Cambridgeshire Fens, rare sight here I guess due to no evergreen trees.
