Church of St Mary's Old Hunstanton (info still being updated)
St Mary's is one of those churches that seams tucked away in the corner and almost feels forgotten but isn't.

This beautiful lump of stone architecture as stated sits well away from Hundsanton and to the outer edge of Old Hunstanton, it may well be in the oldest part and most traditional elements of the village and down some fun twisty narrow roads.
If you are driving parking isn't an issue with a dedicated carpark just before the village pond. As soon as you pass the hedge, you get a beautiful view of a row of cottages, the church and the pond, and straight away, it feels if you have stepped back in time.
This beautiful lump of stone architecture as stated sits well away from Hundsanton and to the outer edge of Old Hunstanton, it may well be in the oldest part and most traditional elements of the village and down some fun twisty narrow roads.
The First thing you will notice about the church is that massive west window and that the tower if offset o the northwest. Entering the churchyard, you get a sense of quality and size throughout, and it is well kept with nature areas set aside.
The east churchyard is rather significant that opens out to some lovely countryside, and it is a peaceful place to be, Its a far cry from the more noisier parts of Hunstanton.
Colourful Stained Glass Windows

The stained glass windows are colourful and bright with some being blue, which looked stunning.
The Chancel or Rood Screen

The pulpit

It is a reasonably modern pulpit, octagonal and rests on eight pillars of red marble. Other parts of the pulpit, Were made from white stone and alabaster with panels that are recessed and adorned with sculptured figures of Our Lord and the four Evangelists.
There had been a medieval, (gothic/Jacobean three-decker pulpit before this one ), but I don't know how much faithful their restoration was or if it as part of the memorial and replaced.
Hunstanton Beach and other Attractions

Obviously, the main attractions in these parts will be Hunstanton's colourful cliffs and the old shipwreck along the beach, but I have covered that too, click on the photo of the cliff to enter the gallery.
